'Let go and let God.'

Nov. 13th, 2007 | 08:48 pm

Faith has a passive element: 'Let go and let God.'

This is caught in a famour prayer Reinhold Niebuhr:

'God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
the courage to change the things that I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.'

"Congratulations! You've received the No Chicken Award!"

Nov. 8th, 2007 | 12:09 am

yeah, that's what Christine received together with me today. we went for our first-ever blood donation at the blood drive organized by SP Red Cross today! i was supposed to be on duty for traffic control.

Christine met up with me at our classroom after accounts paper. boy, i had a TUMMYACHE halfway through! >< nonetheless, seems like ive done it well! yay!! :) we walked to the Vanda Room which is above the staff centre. haha, apparently, i was off-duty and asked to donate blood instead.. yeah, so, christine and i went through several stations before finally giving our blood! id say, it's a really much more pleasant experience than id expected. yeah, it was painful. but, not as bad as id feared. 1st experienced pain when the nurse pricked my middle finger for lab test. then, the second was the injection of anaesthetic. then, it was just numbness and you couldnt feel the big needle at all. while waiting for the nurse, a very sweet girl sat beside me and constantly encouraged me! boy, she's soo sweet. :)

tubes of blood.. my blood! 6 in all. lol

transfusion taking place..

almost done!

the armband. it's green

give blood.

after 4 hours of wearing that GREEN thing.

overall, it's a pretty pleasant experience. the nurses are very friendly & nice! first, the head of staff nurse did some blood pressure thing & kept asking me if i was okay cuz i was looking pale. assured her like 10 times over & then, another indian nurse took over & started using the needles.. ouch ouch. just a bit & no more! haha. the transfusion probably took less than 7 minutes. then, i rested for about 5 mins and mr ang kk who seemed to be the in-charge came over & dressed my arm for me. they were all very warm and encouraging. they just made you feel so at ease & joyful in giving! :) oh, and Christine is joining us at SP Red Cross too! wheee! :)

upcoming..

Happy Children's Day!

Oct. 2nd, 2007 | 12:13 am

in school from 12 thru 330 for fom, ggt and pacc. bought bubble tea (as requested by my lil girl) & went tuition. i dont know why, maybe because it's children's day, i was feeling cheeky & cooped up alot of nonsense that sent us laughing off our lesson! ha, so yeah.. we had quite some fun.

although i left at around 635, i only managed to reach home aft 8! ahhh, the peak hour jam at clementi is really such a dread! well well. thankfully, i had seats on board both buses :)

okay okay, it's children's day! and it's stella's cheeky day! so, i spent 2 hours in front of the TV with my sisters & woah, we had alot alot alot of fights! ha, fights. :)

just now, i opened up a link in my emails & was asked to design a pig. so, i designed a pig:

Adora! by Stella

unknowingly, i was actually taking some personality/character test. amazingly, i identify with most of the statements except the obvious, of course! ha, for fun:

http://ecard.iclp.com.hk/chinesenewyear2007/inf/index.cfm

Your choice of background shows that you are loyal, responsible and trustworthy but sometimes doubt yourself and feel the need to question everything.

The direction your pig is facing indicates you being traditional and friendly, you have a great memory for birthdays and important dates. (this is especially true..)

The amount of detail in your pig means you are analytical, cautious and sometimes suspicious.

Because your pig has four legs, some may say you are stuck in your ways but actually this reflects your strong beliefs and your stubbornness in defending them. :D

The larger the pig's ears, the better listener you are.

The longer your pig's tail, the better your sex life – need we say more! errr..

Oct. 1st, 2007 | 10:52 pm

i was supposed to have very long days in school on friday but thank God, our tutor shifted our accts tutorial to monday afternoons. aft accts lecture, pl kx and i rushed off to the respective venues for our GEM. three of us are taking the biz module this sem; both of them are taking online entrepreneurship (oh pls, no IT for me :)), while im taking real estate marketing.

amazingly, they were dismissed in less than an hour! lect/tut was supposed to be 2 hours long! i was released about 40 mins before schedule too. met up with them at fc 5 where hey! gorgeous was held. pl snapped a shot for kx & i with nat ho (i didnt know his name at first):

..okay, i know i looked darn funny. and, no, i didnt do it on purpose! pl said there was smth wrong & that kinda shocked me.. (nat ho told us to take a quick snap cuz he was abt to go on stage) so, yah.

nevertheless, i still snapped one before he went up! =P

im short lah.. and quite obviously, so he automatically bent a little. hah. we zhao immediately & pl & i went botak jones @ clementi for fish & chips:

after we'd finished eating, pl was obsessed with the cube! but the sun wasn't too kind with its light shining down on us, and the auntie winding up the cover. thus, we made a move opp! to clementi's mac's! teehee. determined to solve the cube by that day, pl sat there practising the steps i told her:

we left at around 5. took bus svc 105 together and i alighted first & went to my mum's pl while she contd on to go home. i rmb we had a good laugh watching My Sassy Neighbour. hah. spent some time with my sisters (who contracted a horrible virus) & unfortunately.. mum was working OT & couldnt hv dinner together. ah, well.. dont know why the last few times i visited, my parents wld be working OT.

met up with tw to try some japanese restaurant. BUT, ah, the place was bursting & fully packed with ppl! what's more? we made a reservation. ah, the service was really bad. but, tw insists that the food is superb, good & fresh! i saw some food being served and a couple (who seemed quite class) was willing to wait for seats at 9pm, so i guess it's really worth the try. then again, the service was really really bad.

walked over to another jap rest to try our luck (as a way of saying..) and ended up in an Australian (i guess) restaurant called Aerin's. they serve really good stuff! *slurrrpps!

hitch fizzy

prawn poppers served with a really nice sauce & fresh veg

fillet of snapper. tw's.. wasn't cleared though. ha

yakiniku cod! trust me, it's really amazing! i'd never ever tasted such good mashed potato! to go with my fav cod (it's so fresh it melts in your mouth!), served in a tasty sauce & topped with fresh chewies & satueed tomato (ah, i love this too)!

best mashed potato i've ever tasted

it melts in your mouth. literally.

the skin

i ate it up too! wiped the whole plate clean!

baked apple and rhubarb pie (their signature dish).

really good stuff! probably my first experience eating melted (or rather, hot!) ice cream

open-concept dining

passed by an art gallery & snapped pics of some interesting art pieces..

if you realized.. that's actually a replica of mao ze dong

how did the artist paint this?

freakily funny fatso. ha it's ART.

WARNING: Please DO NOT scroll down any further if you are eating now or anytime soon!

i told ya! ;)

Sep. 30th, 2007 | 12:00 am

one week of school (1st wk of sch reopen) just passed me by  & my weekend is passing by even faster!

going back to school means being busy & tired! but nonethess, life is still filled with excitement! heh everything is just so so fun & interesting.. but! the moment anything gets boring / when im alone (say, travelling), off i go into the zZ mode. haha. ah, im taking 8 modules this semester:

principles of accounting (2nd sem)
statistics (likewise)
critical reasoning skills (outgoing tutor we've got!)
IDEAs - Innovation, Design and Enterprise in Action (oh, i just rmb im supposed to email our tutor! =x)
geography of global tourism (hot fav! we've got two rly humourous lecturer & tutor!)
fundamental of marketing (okay.. this makes me go into zZ mode..)
organizational management (same motherly woman for lecturer & tutor who speeds like the bullet train)
and of course, my GEM, real estate marketing (i like it! pretty interesting. best of all? open-book test! :))

cca wise, im currently a full-fledged member in SMART and SP Red Cross (going for first aid course rly soon! :)), and i just joined SP Navigators on wed. it's a really interesting club! ha, it's a Christian club and they organize activities ilke sports & dinner, and outings etc etc.. just having fun, fun, & more fun! they welcome non-members & non-Christians to join the activities too! cool, right? ;)

didnt eat any good stuff today

Sep. 29th, 2007 | 11:09 pm

i slept soo soo soundly that i woke up just in time for my dental appt!
ha.. waited for a while & was then strapped to the dental chair for an awful 20 mins experience
DR CHNG did some horrible thing to my horrible tooth (or stupid tooth, as named by him) so as to straighten it
he said that once this is done, we're done & off my braces will go! ha

after doing some stuff at home, i packed my books along with my laptop (maybe i should name it?) & went to sinong's place to.. study! haha. slacked & studied. repaired my spss software & did some spss revision. heh got stuck on this 3 marks qn for damn damn long before i got some help. ha then, sinong was going out with her parents so i made a move back home.

took a bath, ate some of my ah ma's meesiam (1st try) & off i went to clarke quay to meet up with rx & co. spent two hours there.. had a chat with this very sweet chinese girl called yuanyuan. heh yup.. and headed back home then.

reached home around 10pm.. i snoozed throughout the journey. heh, woke up & it's bp already. i still rmb my head swinging around in all directions! haha. oh, bp has PASAR MALAM now! haha it's quite different from those in the past.. you have some turkish food selling at 5 bucks! i rmb buying them & was shocked when i gave a $10 note and didnt rcv any change.

in my opinion, it's really quite tasty & fills up your stomach. probably worth three bucks or at most, a four. i ate it when i was already quite full.. and so, uh.. was struggling to finish it up cux at the same time, couldnt bear to waste food (taught by my parents) & money (heart pain lah.. 5 bucks leh!).. do try it out yourself & tell me about it! =)

Thursday, August 23 @ The Mind Cafe

Aug. 27th, 2007 | 01:59 am

Especially for XIA NING & 4/1..

our beloved classmate & really sweet friend, xianing, left for CANADA to further her studies on FRIDAY, AUG 24. we gathered at THE MIND CAFE a day before her departure to bid her a fond farewell. RASHMINDER, WEIQIAN and MYSELF are the 3 steady ones who spent a memorable afternoon with her :)

xianing was caught up with some unsettled stuff at the bank, and weiqian was LATE (as usual).. so rashminder and i proceeded to TMC first, ordered 2 beef lasagne and settled down with an intellectual game called Balloon Cup.. and here is the loser... =P

just as the game ended, xianing arrived! and we played with this deck of really pretty cards called the Sleeping Queens. following on is going to be dozens of photographs.. but badly taken since im not too much of a photographer..

The Sleeping Queens who were supposed to be woken up by the Kings:

The beginning..

Xia Ning's Creamy Chicken Pasta:

The Bubble Gum King and the Pancake Queen:

The winner who captured 4 Queens first:

The Queens..

The Starfish Queen & the Turtle King:

The Cookie King & the Pancake Queen:

The Kings and the Queens..

XN's favourite.. The Turtle King!

Rashminder's favourite, the Pancake Queen! (Also my fav at 1st..)

A close-up of the Turtle King..

..and ta-dah! My favourite! Somehow she enticed me..

okay, it must have been dizzy looking through the photos, yet not knowing how to play right? honestly, we only played once and it was pretty lame.. oh btw, i gave xianing the title of the ultimate loser =P okay, at the start of the game, everyone is supposed to draw 5 cards which are either power cards or magic cards. power cards are just numbered cards you use to draw more cards, one for one, or a pair for two, or an equation (i.e. 1+8=9) for three. if you draw a King, you can use it to wake a Queen up & it's yours. however, there are Knights! who can steal your Queens. One Knight for one Queen, of course. Then, you  have the Dragons! who can frighten off the Knights and thus, you can keep your Queens. THEN, you have the Magic Wand which can zap the Dragon! and of course, the dragon faints from being electrocuted and you get to keep the Queen. Ah-ha! That isn't all! THEN, you have the MAGIC POTION which can put the any Queen back to sleep. Every magic card can only be utilized once against another magic card. Oh, and there is a Clown card which allows you draw a card from the deck; if you get a magic card, you keep it. Otherwise, count the number that is on the power card & the player gets to pick a Queen. The objective of the game is to be the first to capture 4 Queens and win.

After more than 1.5 hours, WQ finally arrived.. and boy, he really trained our abs!

The first game, The Monkey Game.. notice the monkeys clustered at the upper layer?..

End of 1st round.. I emerged winner! =P

XN's attempt to drown monkeys in Ice Peach Tea..

WQ the VERY late-comer!

Okay, XN, we know you got the rules wrong & vyed for the Best Hunter Award instead. Congrats! You got it!

Next, we played this really fun game called Express it! Guess it! You pick of one those dozens of cards bearing a certain emotion which you've gotta express either through charading, drawing, or reading a text, depending on the face(s) of the dice. You bet we'd a great deal of laughter playing it!

3 of us together, leaving WQ behind =P..

A previous Art student's illustration of an Annoyed look..

..he is none other than WQ!

End of 1st round..

Needless to say, we girls emerged winners! =P

The Loser! hahha..

We played another round, giving WQ the privilege to start 1st, and even, change his Playing Face.. but despite all that..

..he still lost. lol

After a game of Ugly! Ugly! Ugly!..

The left one was snatched, and in the process, crushed, by Rash!

The four of us :)..

..taken by Caroline! who sat right beside our sofa! with her company of friends. Surprise surprise! :D

Snapped a shot with her..

XN insisted that we play TABOO! because WQ was around.. and WAHAHA! we couldnt stop laughing!

HIGHLIGHT: WQ MISTAKEN 'SCANDAL' FOR 'SANDALS', AND POM! HE PUT HIS FOOT ON THE TABLE!

the next moment, XN and I just flung back onto our seats & started laughing till our guts threatened to be coughed out!

FINALLY, we had a game of First Hands, another round of laughter, paid the bill, had one last conversation with her in Singapore, and bid her farewell at the train station.

ALL THE BEST to YOU, Sweetheart!
Your presence will be very much MISSED by 4/1!
We will meet again - very soon! :D

Aug. 17th, 2007 | 11:26 am

it's been raining for hours..
and my granny keeps asking me to eat, eat, and eat!
haha. she's lovely :)

*back from kitchen..

apparently, she cooked a plate of tow gay - beansprout - for my lunch.
i like the way it's cooked - thorough, soft, yet crunchy!
every bite releases the taste of tow gay! awesome!
as much as i like to eat it..
however, i really dislike those that are cooked not long enough, and thus give a very raw taste! yikes!
bought such a plate during last sunday's lunch.. and we couldnt help but, left it aside

*finished up my lunch..

last night, i had a rather bizzare dream
in the dream, i was at a train station
it seemed that i alighted at the wrong station but decided to continue my journey from there anyway
(note: in real life, id actually missed the bus stop i was supposed to alight at at 7plus!)
then, i met delene, and we made our way to her place.
we dropped our stuff there & went to buy some snacks
on our return, it was nightfall already (it was daylight all the while till then..)
suddenly, delene began to have a worried look on her face
in front of us was a plank of wood that we had to cross to get to the other side
there was nothing below the plank of wood except clouds against the bright blue sky (it's night, though..)
i turned back and looked at her. now, beads of perspiration formed & flowed down her face
daringly, she tossed the the little blue bag of snacks into my arms & went forward, saying,
'aiya! nvm la! die, die la! no matter what, still have to cross over!'
then.. i woke up. *laughs

although id screwed up the first two papers, pacc and econs (and im still quite upset about it), im quite glad that they are over and the last paper - pth - is on thurs, aug 23. apparently, we, students, have a lack of materials to study.. well, i'll do my own revision! studying throughout the day on monday and wednesday, and doing revision here and there for the other days. yay! im going to watch fireworks tonight at marina bay! :) long awaited event! before that, will be meeting christina for shopping at tecman, and we will meet sharlene for dinner at thai express!

peace. :)

#1: Buttercup - it just keeps you wanting to take yet another bite!

#2: Prima Deli @ KK Hospitalit's really special.

#3: The rest of Prima Deli outlets & Cake History outlets

The Daily Scoopz, and other shops like Gelare, also offer tasty (or rather, tastier) waffles, but, of course, at higher costs. I think Buttercup is good enough to satisfy my tastebuds and yet, at the same time, not burn a hole in my pocket :)

With a 'sexy' voice, I proclaim, "My skin is peeling like nobody's business."

Jul. 30th, 2007 | 11:18 pm

review on facial by chris' mum (for sharlene)

her name is jenny.

after taking a glance at my face and asking sm questions,
she knew exactly where the problem lies & how to treat my skin.

we started off with multiple cleansing, eyebrow shaping, then extraction.
extraction: the dread of all patients (facial is used to treat skin problem)
i was stunned at the speed and.. the pain that accompanied it
i suppose she worked by this motto: 长痛不孺短痛
though it is very different from my previous b.t.'s working style, im fine with it :)
swiftly, extraction of comedones was completed in possibly the shortest time ive experienced

what happened next was smtm id not done before too
i dont know what you call it
a very sticky paste was spread all over my face & pulled off!
it's supposed to 'balance skin tone'
and off my facial hair went with those sticky paste

then, she used this rly cool machine that's lighted red on extracted areas
following on was cleansing & a masque! wheee
i love masques. simply because i get to snooze... :p

when i left, chris' mummy gv me sm samples of facial products to use for the time being
it's so nice of her! and i think they rly work wonders :)
i left chris' place, satisfied and convinced ive just met a woman who knows her trade well, & is genuine in helping clueless comedone-plagued girls like me win the battle against those irritants & hv healthy skin at affordable costs!

she's my #1 b.t. who kept on saying, "会有一点点痛..."

ps: chris was so kind.. she told her mum not to charge me too much! heh

:) *loved*
